So, when she invited me to join our family last night for a live performance by “Asin,” featuring the renowned vocalist Lolita Carbon, at Jedini Resto-Bar nearby, I couldn’t resist the opportunity. “Asin” is a revered Pinoy folk rock band that has made its mark in the Philippines’ music scene. They initially started as a trio in the late 1970s, originally bearing the name “Salt of the Earth.” “Asin” is the Filipino word for salt. Stepping into Jedini Resto-Bar for the first time, I found it to be a cozy albeit somewhat small place, but it was definitely manageable.
