However, I can’t help but feel a sense of trepidation whenever I hear the words “THESIS DEFENSE.” It may sound strange, but I struggle with low self-confidence. This is the primary reason behind my anxiety when it comes to presenting oral reports in front of my class. The thought of experiencing discomfort and uncertainty makes me uneasy.
Nonetheless, a thesis defense marks the final step toward the success of your academic journey. It signifies that you’re on the brink of achieving your academic goals. During the defense, you’ll have the opportunity to present and defend your study, walking the panel through the meticulous steps you took from inception to completion. It’s a moment of anticipation and significance. (This is it!)

For your thesis defense preparation, you’ll want to gather a few essential items to ensure everything goes smoothly:
- Bond papers – These are for printing your thesis hard copy. You can either print it yourself or visit a computer shop or printing store to get your paper printed.
- Sliding folders – These folders are used to neatly attach your printed papers, ensuring a professional and organized presentation.
- Record book – While optional, it can be handy for rewriting your old record notebook or for taking notes on any comments, suggestions, or recommendations made by your thesis panel.
- Envelopes – These come in handy if you have forms or slips required for the thesis defense process.
- Pen – Be sure to have a pen on hand for taking notes on what your panel members say, especially regarding how to improve your paper.
- Laptop – You’ll need your laptop for the presentation of your work or thesis using PowerPoint or any other relevant software.
