ASIN Mini Concert

I’m a true music enthusiast, and I have a special fondness for old songs from iconic bands like Westlife, Backstreet Boys, Carpenters, and more. However, recently, I embarked on a delightful journey to explore the hit songs that reigned supreme during my mother’s era. So, when she invited me to join our family last night for a live performance by “Asin,” featuring the renowned vocalist Lolita Carbon, at Jedini Resto-Bar nearby, I couldn’t resist the opportunity.

“Asin” is a revered Pinoy folk rock band that has made its mark in the Philippines’ music scene. They initially started as a trio in the late 1970s, originally bearing the name “Salt of the Earth.” “Asin” is the Filipino word for salt.

Stepping into Jedini Resto-Bar for the first time, I found it to be a cozy albeit somewhat small place, but it was definitely manageable. The only downside was the prices of the food, which seemed a bit on the higher side. Their nachos, in particular, didn’t meet my taste expectations, as they had an unusual aftertaste. On a brighter note, the tapsilog was quite satisfying, but I wish they had provided vinegar alongside the ketchup. The soft drink was served in cans, and disappointingly, mango shake was not available, despite my craving for it at that moment. The limited number of waitstaff made it slightly challenging for them to cater to all the customers promptly. Nonetheless, I considered it a decent place to begin with.

Then, the moment arrived as “Asin” took the stage. Initially, I felt a bit bored and sleepy, but when they began to perform their timeless hits, my perspective did a complete 180. Oh my, they were absolutely incredible! Lolita Carbon’s voice was nothing short of amazing, and the songs were such classics that even the audience joined in, singing along in unison. Witnessing this passionate response was truly heartwarming. My parents were in their element, thoroughly enjoying the night.

To “Asin,” I extend my heartfelt gratitude for bringing immense happiness and fulfillment to my parents and your fans. Your songs have etched themselves as an enduring part of their lives, and you, as a band, stand as legends, forever celebrated for your remarkable contributions to Filipino music.
