How to really know someone?

I enjoyed reading Kai’s post about how she answered a series of questions and got inspired to answer as well for you to know who and what I am. The list is over a hundred and I decided to pick out random ones to answer. If you guys want to answer a series of questions and situations too, click here. 5. Any specific personality traits you would like to see in your life partner? I want to have a positive, understanding, hardworking, and lovable partner. Even though he’s not that good-looking or rich, as long as he has a dream and goals in life that will be okay to me. I just want to have a simple and happy life until the end. 6. Should parents be their child’s friends? Yes, it is way better for me so that their child won’t grow secretive or sensitive because being friends with our parents is a good thing to feel comfortable and to share their thoughts, especially their feelings and personal problems. 19. How important is music in your life? I …

Graduate School!

If you’ve read my previous post titled “Self-doubt,” you’d know that I had set my sights on gaining admission to the graduate school at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). It has long been my dream to continue my education in the field of Microbiology and earn my Master of Science degree at this esteemed institution. I worked tirelessly to meet all the requirements for admission to the first semester. I shed many tears because of those who didn’t believe in me, criticized me, and passed judgment. I felt hopeless and weak at times, but I refused to give up. I worked hard and prayed. Initially, completing those requirements was challenging because some people didn’t support me. However, I’m grateful for those obstacles because they made me even stronger and more motivated. While I waited for my admission, I attended two job interviews and was fortunate enough to be accepted by both companies. However, my top priority was pursuing my graduate school education, so I continued to wait for admission. Finally, the long …

Asian Congress on Biotechnology 2017 (ACB 2017)

Hello, blog! My apologies for the recent lack of updates. I’ve been extremely busy with my research presentation and submitting requirements for graduate school. Nevertheless, I’m here to welcome the month of August, and I’m determined to post more frequently this month. From July 23 to 26, I had the opportunity to participate in the 13th Asian Congress on Biotechnology in Khon Kaen, Thailand. During the conference, I presented my undergraduate thesis. To be completely honest, this was my very first experience presenting my research at an international congress. Prior to this, the only time I presented my research was during my undergraduate thesis defense at my school. My thesis adviser, Dr. Hosea dL. Matel strongly encouraged me to present my research at the congress. At first, I was quite hesitant because of two main concerns. First, I had no prior experience with international congresses, and second, the costs associated with registration, flights, and accommodation were considerably high. During this time, I was feeling quite overwhelmed, and my family was too. In fact, we had …

How do you go for a first job interview?

Hello, July! This marks my first post for the new month. I’ve been quite occupied lately, diving into theme customization and entering giveaways on YouTube. I’ve been on a quest to perfect the colors and layout of my theme, and I can finally say that I’m satisfied with the design. As a recent college graduate, I’m thrilled about the prospect of either starting my career or pursuing a Master’s degree. I’ve already submitted my application to the University of the Philippines – Los Banos, Laguna, and I’m eagerly awaiting their response. In the meantime, I decided to explore job opportunities and submitted my resume to Universal Robina Corporation (URC) online. To my surprise, they reached out to me for an initial interview and an exam on June 28, 2017. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule the interview due to an unforeseen emergency, which left me quite anxious. The night before the rescheduled interview, I couldn’t sleep, as my excitement and nervousness had me pondering what lay ahead. I’d like to share my first job interview experience …

Self-doubt

I recently made a trip to UPLB to submit some additional requirements. I’m still holding on to hope, praying, wishing, and firmly believing that I can gain entry into graduate school. Pursuing my Master’s Degree is something I’m extremely passionate about, even though there are individuals trying to bring me down because they don’t believe in my potential. That’s life, filled with its ups and downs. Success doesn’t come without encountering failures, discrimination, and criticism along the way. I’ve decided to use these negative sentiments, discrimination, and criticism as motivation to improve and ultimately succeed. I’ve grown weary of shedding tears and am determined to change my perspective on life. When your mind and heart are genuinely set on achieving your goals, you can overcome obstacles, even when there are naysayers trying to hinder your progress. I’ve learned to let their disbelief slide off me. I’m making a promise to myself that I will become a successful woman one day, not just through intelligence or bravado, but through hard work, perseverance, and unwavering faith in …

The Meeting Plate

We celebrated Father’s Day at The Meeting Plate in Imus, Cavite. Originally, we had plans to dine at Kanin Club in Alabang, but due to heavy traffic between General Trias and Imus, we opted to find a place to eat in Imus since it was already noon. The restaurant had a simple ambiance, and it wasn’t particularly eye-catching from the outside. What caught my attention, though, was their “mini-boutique” inside, which offered a variety of items like clothes, makeup, makeup tools, shoes, soaps, and more. This was a nice touch, as I had some time to browse around while waiting for our orders. Now, let’s talk about the food. It was delightful! I found the spicy nachos, chicken wings, and fried chicken to be particularly scrumptious. As for the ribs, they were decent, although I’m not a huge fan of ribs in general. Overall, I’d rate the food a 4 out of 5. I’m eager to recommend this restaurant to my friends and anyone else looking for a good place to eat. On my next …

Brock’s Burger

I had heard quite a few recommendations about the delicious burgers at Brock’s Burger, even from some of my friends. When I found out they had a newly built branch in Trece Martires City, Cavite, I decided to give it a try. The place and the staff at the restaurant were quite pleasant. However, when it came to the burger itself, I couldn’t say there was anything exceptionally special about it. Personally, I wasn’t a fan of their bread, but I did enjoy their patties and fries. Considering the price point, I thought it was a good value overall. I’m open to returning to sample some of their other burger offerings in the future. The cost for the meal typically ranged from P100 to P200, making it quite affordable.

Graduation 2017

Finally, on May 26, 2017, I proudly donned my cap and gown, signifying my well-deserved graduation! It’s been a journey filled with tears, pain, wounds, discrimination, and criticism, but I emerged stronger than ever. I offer my heartfelt gratitude to the Lord for granting me the strength to persevere and complete what I started. I extend my deepest appreciation to all those who supported me throughout my thesis journey. My family, in particular, served as a constant source of motivation and inspiration. Cavite State University, you’ve played an integral role in shaping me into the well-rounded and educated woman I am today. As I stand at the threshold of my future, I find myself torn between multiple paths: should I embark on Medical School, Graduate School, or enter the workforce? For now, I’m part of #TeamBahay, enjoying a well-deserved break while I remain unemployed. To all the students who have felt worthless, weary, and weak at some point in their academic journeys, I have a simple message: it’s okay to rest, but never stop. Reflect …
